winter holiday events in dfw

With Christmas almost here, homeowners in the Dallas/Fort Worth area are most likely rushing to get presents for loved ones, take care of any appliance maintenance and do some last-minute winter cleaning. If you are one of those homeowners, you are probably stressed out with this ever-growing checklist. At DFW Thermal, we believe in playing hard just as much as working hard. You have been busy with various tasks all year, so it’s only fitting that you take a breather and do something fun. If you don’t know what to do or where to go, don’t worry. The pros at DFW Thermal have come up with a great list of fun winter holiday events in DFW, so you can destress and soak in the true holiday spirit!

1. Tree Lighting at “Deck the Plaza”

If you live in downtown Dallas, then it is only fitting that you attend the tree lighting at the Dallas City Hall plaza! The event is supposed to be festive and family friendly, with various speakers, a live Santa Claus and the lighting of a 40-foot tree! Attendees can also help themselves to several treats such as hot chocolate, cookies and apple cider. If you want to attend a fun, family friendly community event, “Deck the Plaza” is the place to be!

 Dec. 6, 5:30 – 8 pm

1500 Marilla St.,

Dallas, TX 75201

2. Holiday at The Arboretum

To really soak in the holiday and Christmas spirit, you can’t miss the Dallas Arboretum. It is a Dallas Arboretum tradition to put up the most extravagant Christmas decorations. This year, the arboretum will be featuring exhibitions based on the “12 Days of Christmas” theme. Each exhibition consists of 12-foot-tall, glass encased gazebos. If you decide to attend the 12 Days of Christmas celebration at night, you will come across about 50,000 lights and a decorated and well-lit 30-foot-tall spruce tree in the middle of it all! Don’t miss out on this hidden DFW holiday gem.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Nov. 29th – Dec. 31st

8525 Garland Rd.

Dallas, TX 75218

3. Tree Lighting and Ice Skating

If anyone knows how to get into the holiday spirit, it’s the Galleria mall in Dallas. Towering over ice skaters below, their 95-foot-tall tree happens to be the largest indoor Christmas tree in the United States. This year, you can attend various live performances and celebrations starting November 29 all the way to December 31st. Till December 24th, you can catch the illumination of the tree choreographed to different holiday music and jingles. You can also check out their large indoor ice-skating rink and the rest of the mall—the Galleria stores go all out for Christmas!

Illumination Celebrations are daily from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24th. You can catch them at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at any level of the mall at center court. There are no 8 p.m. shows on Sundays.
